Manage your team's WhatsApp numbers from Cline

Cline, the open-source coding agent, supports remote MCP servers. You bring your own model key, and Whatsable gives it your WhatsApp numbers.

To connect WhatsApp to Cline, add the Whatsable MCP server at https://api.whatsable.app/mcp. Cline can then read chats, send messages, and report on every number you approve.

Capabilities

What you can do with Whatsable

  • Reply to customers and send templates or media, from the number you name
  • See every chat on your numbers, with its 24-hour window and AI status
  • Read teammate replies by name and work out each person's response time
  • Schedule messages, and run paced broadcasts to a label
  • Find, add, and label contacts across the organization
  • Find approved templates and submit new ones to Meta for review
  • Edit AI agents and choose which one answers on each number
  • Switch the AI off in one chat so a person can take over
Ask in plain words

What your team can ask

No tool names to learn. Each person asks for what their job needs.

Team response times

Ask Cline: "What was Alex's average response time this week, and who on the team is fastest?"

Across every number

Ask Cline: "Which of our numbers have customers still waiting for an answer?"

Daily report

Ask Cline: "Give me my daily WhatsApp report: chats, failures, handoffs, and what is scheduled."

Setup

Connect Whatsable to Cline

  1. 1Open MCP servers. In Cline, open the MCP servers settings and add a remote server.
  2. 2Enter the URL. Enter https://api.whatsable.app/mcp and choose streamable HTTP.
  3. 3Sign in to Whatsable and approve. Choose the organization, the access level, the default number, and which numbers the app can use.

What keeps you in control

  • If you edit cline_mcp_settings.json by hand, set "type": "streamableHttp". Without it, Cline uses SSE, which Whatsable does not support. In Cline CLI, run cline mcp and choose Authorize OAuth to sign in.
  • Cline uses the general remote MCP setup: streamable HTTP, not SSE, with OAuth. Menus change, so check Cline's own documentation. If it asks for a client ID and secret, use an API key header instead, or message us.
  • You choose Full access, Send and read, or Read only when you connect. The assistant sees only the tools that access allows.
  • You choose the numbers: only the default number, all numbers, or specific numbers.
  • Outside the 24-hour window, only an approved template reaches a customer. Whatsable refuses a free-form text.
  • A message WhatsApp refuses comes back as Not sent, with the reason. It is never reported as sent.
  • Removing the app does not revoke access. Revoke it in Whatsable under Settings > API keys > Connected AI apps.
FAQ

Common questions

Open MCP servers. Enter the URL. Sign in to Whatsable and approve. The server URL is https://api.whatsable.app/mcp.

Yes. When you connect, you choose only the default number, all numbers, or specific numbers. With several, each send names its number, and Cline should ask if you have not said which one.

Yes. Each conversation's history names the teammate behind every reply, with timestamps. Cline reads those conversations and works out response times per person. It reads one conversation at a time, so on a busy account ask for a short period.

Choose Read only and it cannot send or change anything. With higher access, most AI apps ask you to approve each tool that sends or changes something. Each send is one real WhatsApp message.
