When a customer asks your AI agent about shipping times or product specs, you want the answer to match what's on your site today. Website knowledge lets you choose which pages of your website the agent reads.
This guide walks through the setup choices, so you can decide what the agent reads and how often it checks back.
Why connect your website
Your site already holds the answers: pricing, policies, how-to guides, product details. Instead of copying that information into the agent's instructions and updating it by hand every time something changes, you can tell the agent where to look. It reads the pages you choose, and you control whether updates go live right away or wait for your review.
This works well for:
- Product catalogs that change as inventory shifts
- Support pages that your team keeps current
- Pricing or policy pages that need to stay accurate
- How-to articles that walk customers through common questions
The agent can pull from up to 5 websites, so you can mix your main site with a help center or a separate product page.
How to add a website in the new Whatsable console
Open the agent editor, go to Knowledge, and choose Websites.
Website addresses
Paste the URLs you want the agent to read, one per line. Each address must start with https.
What to read
You have two choices:
- Only this page reads the single page you listed.
- This page and the pages it links to follows links from the starting page.
If you point the agent at your homepage and choose "This page and the pages it links to," it will follow the links it finds.
Most pages per website
Pick 1, 10, 25 or 50 pages. The default is 25.
If you're starting with a single FAQ page, 1 is enough. If you want the agent to learn from a full help center, choose 50. The limit is per website.
How often to read it again
Decide how often the agent checks back:
- Once reads the site once.
- Every day re-reads the site daily.
- Every week checks back once a week.
- Every month checks back once a month.
Daily re-reads are capped at 10 pages.
When the website changes
Choose what happens when the agent finds new or updated content:
- Publish updates automatically publishes the new version right away.
- Let me review first flags the update as "Review needed" and waits for you to approve it.
An edit you made yourself is never overwritten without your review.
Permission
Tick the box to confirm you own the website or have permission to use its content.
What the agent can read
Each document is up to 12,000 characters. The agent skips pages blocked by robots.txt.
Keeping answers current
Once the site is connected, the agent checks back on the schedule you set. If your team updates a support article or changes a product description, what happens next depends on your choice: with "Publish updates automatically" the new version goes live at once; with "Let me review first" it waits for your approval.
