WhatsAble WhatsApp comparisonsWhatsAble vs respond.io

WhatsAble vs respond.io

Both tools talk about WhatsApp Coexistence. The question is whether you need an omnichannel enterprise inbox, or a WhatsApp-first workspace billed on unique contacts.

The real question

Suite inbox or WhatsApp-led workspace?

WhatsAble and respond.io both publish Meta Coexistence: keep the WhatsApp Business app on the same number while you run Cloud API automation and a team inbox. That shared ground is not the wedge on this page.

respond.io sells a multi-channel conversation suite: WhatsApp plus TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, calls, and email-style journeys in one AI-powered inbox. WhatsAble is WhatsApp-led: Bulk Message, Pro, and Agency plans billed on unique contacts with integrations like Pipedrive, Make, Zapier, and n8n on Pro and Agency.

The practical split is billing shape, history at connect, and what happens when someone replies from the phone. We cite respond.io's own pricing, product, and help pages below.

WhatsAble

What you keep when you connect WhatsAble

WhatsAble is built for WhatsApp-led teams. You connect your existing number through Embedded Signup with Meta Coexistence. The Business app stays on your phone. Messages sync between phone and inbox. About six months of 1:1 conversation history can come over at connect. Groups, Status, and Calls stay on the phone app.

Plans are Bulk Message, Pro, and Agency only. Pro is $49/mo for 500 unique contacts with overage at +$12 per extra 100. Agency is $53.90 per number. Extra team seats start at $12/mo on Pro and Agency. Meta WhatsApp fees are a separate bill with 0% WhatsAble markup.

When a teammate replies from the WhatsAble inbox or from the WhatsApp Business app on the phone, Chat Handoff switches that thread to Human Agent and the AI stops on that conversation. If you also run Make, Zapier, or n8n, pausing those automations when a human replies is a separate filter from native Chat Handoff. With outgoing webhooks enabled, phone replies can reach your automation stack.

respond.io

What respond.io's own pages say

respond.io markets an AI-powered customer conversation platform that unifies WhatsApp with TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, calls, and email-style journeys. Their WhatsApp pages describe an official BSP path with Meta Premier Partner positioning and public claims of no markups on Meta WhatsApp fees.

On coexistence, respond.io states you can connect to the WhatsApp Business Platform while still using the WhatsApp Business App on the same phone number. Their help center is explicit about limits: contact and message history syncing is currently not supported, and Phase 1 will not display past conversations in respond.io (past chats stay on the Business App).

Echo messages sent from the Business App appear in respond.io but, per help, do not open a service window, do not trigger automation, and may count toward Monthly Active Contacts. respond.io also documents that you must open the WhatsApp Business App at least once every 14 days or the Channel connection may be removed.

This page does not claim respond.io lacks coexistence or Pipedrive. Both are on their public integration and pricing pages.

Hands-on

What we saw when we used both

We walked a WhatsAble Coexistence connect and read respond.io public pricing, WhatsApp product, and coexistence help pages on 2026-09-30. This is what each path looked like in practice.

WhatsAble: Coexistence connect and Chat Handoff

  1. Start Embedded Signup from the WhatsAble console. Meta Coexistence keeps the WhatsApp Business app on the same number.
  2. Send a test reply from the Business app on the phone. The message appears in the WhatsAble inbox.
  3. Confirm about six months of 1:1 history is available in the inbox after connect (Groups and Status stay on the phone).
  4. Confirm Chat Handoff flips to Human Agent when a teammate replies from the inbox or the phone on that thread.

respond.io: public pricing and coexistence help

  1. Open respond.io/pricing. Starter / Growth / Advanced list $99 / $199 / $349 per month on monthly billing, or $79 / $159 / $279 per month when billed yearly (save up to 20%). Plans bill on Monthly Active Contacts plus AI credits.
  2. Open respond.io/help/whatsapp/whatsapp-coexistence. History syncing is not supported; Phase 1 will not show past conversations in respond.io.
  3. Read echo-message rules: App sends do not trigger automation and may count toward MAC.
  4. Note the 14-day Business App open requirement documented in help to keep the Channel connected.
